  • Clock spring failing

Hey guys, just wondering how many of you had problem with your clockspring ? Mine is busted, according to the scan code, but might be a loose connector behind the steering wheel.

Haven't yet had the time to bring everything apart and would like to hear others "experience" with this problem.

Read that I could punch the steering wheel hard enough to possibly place back all the connector, my little finger tells me not to... Especially when it's written "airbag" just in front of me !

      Re: Clock spring failing

I replaced mine a few months ago. I ordered the part off ebay for just under $200. It took about an hour to do the job. No special tools required.

Well that's money I would have preferred put on some mods. I will cross my finger and try to fix it or I will order another clock spring assembly :/

I thought the same to try and fix he broke clock spring. When I had it out i realized it wasn't going to happen. So I put in the new one I had ordered.

Just received my recall for my clock spring. Was told that if you have documentation of replacing it you can submit a request for a reimbursement through this link

Don't punch the steering wheel. The clock spring sits behind the steering wheel and the plugs go in the sides, except for the air bag plugs. I have a 2013 and I've already replaced mine too. It's an easy job to do yourself. I just had to purchase a steering wheel puller.
